The Halo bulletin was posted late Wednesday, March 13 to give the fans a peek inside the minds of 343 Industries and what they plan to do with "Halo 4". This week they won't be releasing any new playlist but did make some interesting announcements for future updates.
Andy "Bravo" Dudynsky said in the bulletin that they will be winding down on weekly matchmaking updates and be moving to bi-weekly to provide a more "substantial" updates in the future while they tweak the existing playlists already available. This doesn't mean they have no new playlists coming in the future, Bravo said they are working hard on a new FFA playlist and working hard on providing the best objective types for "larger parties" which we can assume means Big Team Battle.
Don't worry though, 343i isn't done updating the game says Bravo because aside from matchmaking playlist additions they are also hard at work on the CSR (Competitive Skill Rank) that is set to release next month. Bravo was also able to announce that the "Halo 4" team is already working on the next title update (TU), but wasn't able to provide full details in the bulletin because he is saving those juicy details for those lucky members that attend their PAX East panel Friday, March 22, 2013. One feature he was able to mention that will be making a return from previously Halo titles is the red X marker upon death. For those who don't remember this, when a player on your team died your HUD would display the position where that team member died with a red X. Currently in "Halo 4" a red X will show on your minimap but it's not as effective as when you can look to your left or right and see a red X to tell you the general area of where that person died. It's very helpful when you are playing a team based game with people talking back and forth. A good example of this is if someone has the rocket launcher and dies with it all they have to say is "Rockets on my X" and all the remaining team members have to do is look for the red X to know where the rocket launcher is.
As I mentioned above, they are working on other features for the title update but are saving them for their panel at PAX East so stay tuned for more updates. In the meantime please enjoy some screenshots from the fileshare highlighted by 343i in the bulletin this week.
