343 Still Hiring for Franchise Writer Position

Halo Developer 343 Industries is in the process of hiring a new Franchise Writer to work on Halo. It was advertised in their most recent Bulletin. Here, you can read the job description for yourself.

“343 Industries at Microsoft Studios is looking for a certified Halo expert to join the team that builds and maintains the fiction of the Halo universe. If you already know off the top of your head how much an Unggoy weighs, the maximum top speed of a Warthog, and how big a Halo ring is, you might be interested in being a part of the franchise team responsible for creating new Halo stories across an ever-growing collection of games, books, comics, and live action video.

To fit this position, you will need to physically manifest your passion for the Halo universe. We will gauge your Halo knowledge and if you prove worthy, you could have the chance to help curate and grow one of the most popular science fiction universes around.”

You can read the job description in its entirety here.

Interestingly, the writing sample requires the applicant to write an essay on the Mantle of Responsibility, most Halo fans don’t know the first thing about it, so that should wean out the uninformed. There are many fans that have encyclopedic knowledge of the Halo Universe, but not all of us have the chops to take on a job as Franchise Writer.

This job opening comes at a time when 343 Industries seems to be going through a metamorphosis, with employees moving on, and others joining. What impact this will have on the Future of Halo is anyone’s guess.
