Car shows and Minnesota weather don’t seem to be cooperating very well lately.
This was the 31st Annual All GM Car/Truck Show and Swap Meet and it was going to take more than some early morning rain to keep car fans from enjoying their passion.
You'd think with this unpredictable spring that car owners and fans alike would be used to the routine. In other words, bring the ponchos and umbrellas and hope for a clearing. Last year there was a drought; this year you can’t keep the rain from falling.
While it did stop coming down, the fairgrounds were sopped. The swap meet was stationed in Machinery Hill making for several rows of muck to traverse to shop for treasure. Sellers positioned on the fence-line had a least some blacktop to prevent the mud from splattering everything. Across the way, the car coral had very few vehicles ready to sell. Overall, it was probably not an ideal day for vendors and those wishing to flip their ride.
Props to all who drove their freshly-detailed rides to the event. At least the cars are being run through the gears, a good thing for cars hate being idle for too long.
Coming up next at the State Fairgrounds is the Minnesota Street Rod Association (MSRA) 40th Annual Back to the 50s Weekend (http://www.msra.com/). It is the largest event of the year.
