'300: Rise of an Empire' No. 1 at U.S. box office; 'Mr. Peabody & Sherman' No. 2

Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros. Pictures' action flick "300: Rise of an Empire" debuted at No. 1 at the U.S. and Canadian box office for the weekend ending March 9, 2014. According to a Box Office Mojo report published on March 9, "300: Rise of an Empire" had $45 million in ticket sales for the weekend ending March 9, 2014. "300: Rise of an Empire" (a sequel to 2007's "300") has an international cast that includes Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey and Rodrigo Santoro.

DreamWorks Animation's "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" (with Ty Burrell as the voice of genius dog Mr. Peabody) debuted at No. 2, with $32.5 million in ticket sales.
