A Florida couple was charged after 300 animals were discovered in their home, according to a Jan. 6 News Channel10 report. The story of how Jeffrey O'Neil and Jennifer Kovacs were charged with animal cruelty is a strange one.
Authorities were called to the residence when the couple called about a missing 16-month-old child. Once they arrived, they found 300 animals in the home (some were dead). The 16-month-old child was not in the home, but they quickly located her at a relative's house. The reason she was at the relative's house is because the relative was unable to wake up the intoxicated couple to take care of the toddler.
Because of the situation, Jeffrey O'Neil and Jennifer Kovacs face charges of both child abuse and animal cruelty. Three rats and a hamster were dead in the house. Among the living animals were lizards and snakes that were living in horrible conditions. Then of course, there's the fact that they had no clue where their 16-month-old child was.
What a mess! It is pretty unbelievable that this Florida couple had 300 animals in their home.
