“30 Rock” stars tearful because their fans will miss them? Yes, but not quite. It’s true that the final episode went out on an emotional high, showing a sentimental side of the characters that fans had never seen before. But behind the scenes, there was even more sentiment, according to a Feb. 2 Access Hollywood report.
NBC released a video “Thank You Tina Fey” showing the “30 Rock” cast and crew talking about star Tina Fey. Some of the cast, including Jane Krakowski and Tracy Morgan got quite choked up as they thanked their favorite colleague; a brilliant writer and boss who made coming to work every day a joyful experience.
According to Access Hollywood, both cried while expressing their gratitude to Fey. “She has gone through a phase in her career where her light shone so brightly and she shared her light with all of us, which is really sweet,” Krakowski said in the video, while wiping away tears. An emotional Morgan added, “She’s a champion.”
Morgan also gave a sentimental story about how Fey asked him to join the show and explained why she was his very own “Bruce Lee.” “It was sorta like Bruce Lee when he called Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at five o’clock in the morning and he said, ‘I’m making this movie called ‘Game of Death,’” Tracy explained. “Kareem was sleeping and he said, ‘Word. I’m in,’ and that was it. They spoke about the details later.”
Last week, Fey was recognized for her outstanding work by her colleagues when she won the Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her turn on the show.
