On November 4, give thanks for food.
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food."
~ Genesis 1:29
Did you eat today? Most likely, if you're an American, and you're not fasting, you did eat today. Maybe you ate too much. Were you thankful for the food you had?
In comparision to the world's population, not many Americans really go hungry.
According to World Hunger, The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that nearly 870 million people of the 7.1 billion people in the world, or one in eight, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2010-2012. Almost all the hungry people, 852 million, live in developing countries, representing 15 percent of the population of developing counties.
Be grateful for what you have. Be generous to those who have not.
Let us thank God for food when others are hungry;
for drink when others are thirsty;
for friends when others are lonely.
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
~ 2 Corinthians 9:10-11
Be present at our table, Lord!
Be here and everywhere adored.
Your mercies bless, and grant that we
May feast in Paradise with Thee.
