To burn calories it’s essential to burn off more calories than you take in, you can’t lose weight just by eating less. Like cars are built to drive every day and not just hang out in the garage or driveway each day your body is meant to move. The best exercise is what you like to do. If you get bored with what you are doing don’t be afraid to change to a new sport or new workout video or class. Just don’t stop working out unless you are sick, and even then you may need to force yourself to work out as you get better to avoid taking too much time off from activity.
Food
Changing your eating habits is challenging but go out and checkout some new cookbooks or go to the library and borrow a vegetarian or Asian recipe cookbook chances are you will learn a lot just buy validating there are ways to cook that may be different from what you’ve been doing and they still taste great. The good thing about a cookbook or a cooking class is learning portion size. Portion size is something you may not be aware of especially if you’ve been overweight. People may say you shouldn’t eat as much but rarely does actual portion size come up unless you actually do and focus on an actual professional diet.
Professional? Weight Watchers, Atkins, Jenny Craig. Because you don’t want anyone telling you “no” or that you can’t. When you are working with lifestyle/diet coach you tend to be more open and in agreement with the changes. When a family member, parent, etc. is telling you to back off the large portions or filling your plate completely, you tend to rebel and cling to your plate and hold on to the portion size for dear life.
Like a virgin
The best way not to backslide and eat too much is to be prepared ahead of time. Like a virgin who must be on her toes at all times in the world to honor her token prize, her virginity, you must know what to say to people who insist you eat more, you must be prepared to make wise choices when it comes to food, you must be able to think and say “no.” You may have to take your own healthy snacks and meals with you, when you travel or visit relatives. You must be aware and looking ahead at all times as to what is coming up, never taking your “chastity belt” off for a minute, or else.
Journal
Keeping a food diary or journaling is your own personal sounding board. You can vent, you can be proud, you can whatever it takes, and you don’t need to apologize to any one for what you wrote. You can read it, re-read it at a later date, you can set goals that no one else will know about, you can make adjustments to your goals tweeking them, and see if you can keep them.
Don’t give up on you. You are worth every minute of then effort. Stand tall and be proud. Look in the mirror and say, “Good morning, you look marvelous, and I love you.” Namaste. (see video)
