3 way to wear button-ups (Photos)

Winter has officially hit Toronto with temperatures reaching -14 degrees Celsius later in the week. It is hard to dress well, while still trying to keep warm. One thing that is often overlooked is how flattering learning to properly layer can be.

A simple way to layer, and keep warm, is by using a button-up shirt. Button-up shirts have a stigma of being a formal piece of a suit, when really, they have progressed much farther than that. There are lots of different fabrics, cuts, and styles of button-ups available in almost every woman's clothing store.

One great way to wear a button-up is peaking out from under a jacket or blazer. By keeping the jacket and button up undone, one is able to draw focus to the shirt at the lowest layer. Wearing a tank, a button-up and a jacket or blazer is also very functional - it keeps you warm!

Another way to wear a button-up is layered under a crew neck sweater. Allowing the collar to pop out of the top of the sweater lets you play around with different patterns and colours. Pair a blue knit sweater with a yellow button-up for some pops of colour. This look also lends well to wearing shorter statement necklaces.

Finally, pair a button-up with a long sleeved henley. This look works really well for keeping warm, but it also makes the button-up look a little more casual. You can add a scarf as a third piece to give your look some personality.

Button-ups are super versatile, functional, and very on trend. There are many more ways that you can integrate a button-up into your wardrobe, but one thing is for sure, the button-up is a key, timeless piece that every woman needs.
