“Everyone has a calling of some kind,” says Oprah Winfrey. “Your real job in life is to figure that out.” Steven Pressfield, author of “the WAR of ART,” has three tricks to find out your calling. He asks:
- What are you more afraid of than anything else in the world?
- What would you do if you were going to die in three months?
- What would you do if fear or money were not a factor?

See the video accompanying this article for Pressfield's explanation. It is just a snippet from the hour-long interview of Pressfield by Oprah Winfrey on “Super Soul Sunday,” which aired the end of September 2013. Pressfield asks the three questions and discusses why people fail to recognize the answer. Winfrey and Pressfield agree that others sabotage us throughout life for fear of losing us. Questions like, “How are you ever going to make any money by writing?” is Oprah’s example of sabotage.
The worst form of sabotage is when we do it to ourselves. Oprah calls this the war of art. “You have to be aware of it and keep getting up earlier and earlier to meet your goal,” she says.
