1. The Kansas City Jazz Museum Many would agree the Kansas City Jazz and Negro Leagues museums are two of the best kept secrets in Kansas City. Both are a hop, skip and a jump from one another right in the heart of the city on 18th and Vine.
Every Kansas City young person should experience the museum at least once before they depart adolescence. Jazz and baseball are amazing Kansas City historical pillars. Did you know Kansas City houses the most famous and comprehensive collection of jazz video footage right at the Jazz Museum? Check it out.
2. Union Station is also an unsung hero of Kansas City. The Station is a great place for lunch, browsing or viewing an exhibit. Currently, “Diana, A Celebration” is the featured exhibit, but there is much more to explore. For instance, your young people will enjoy Engineerium – an opportunity to work in a real engineering environment, or the KC Rail Experience a permanent exhibit about the history of the railroad and more. Check out costs and times at http://www.unionstation.org/
3. Donnelly College wants to take you around the world while staying within a stone’s throw from home! Your young people will have a ball at their upcoming “Multicultural Festival” on Friday, April 29, 2011; from 5:00 p.m. to 10 p.m., click here to learn more: http://www.donnelly.edu/mcfest/
Any other ideas?
