3 missing teens found: Israeli teens' bodies recovered in West Bank

Three missing teens were found Monday, and it is suspected that Hamas was behind the kidnapping and killing of the three. Gil-Ad Shaer, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrah went missing earlier this month, and on Monday Reuters shared the details on the brutal incident that left all three dead.

The three missing teens were found in a field close to Hebron in the West Bank. Israel says that the Palestinian group Hamas is behind the brutal act. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “Hamas is responsible and Hamas will pay.” The three went missing on June 12.

Reports indicate that the three had been kidnapped while they were hitchhiking. It appears that all three were shot soon after their abductions. The break that led to the discovery of their bodies came about after interrogations of the relatives of the suspected abductors.

ABC News reports that Hamas has denied that they kidnapped the three missing teens found in Hebron. Officials from both Palestine and Israel believe that the abductors likely did not have direct orders from Hamas leadership. However, it is believed that the abductors were probably a part of or tied to the militant group. Naftali Frenkel, 16, had dual citizenship with the U.S. and Israel, and his family is from Brooklyn, N.Y.

What comes next in the area as a result of this incident? Unfortunately the area continues to be rife with conflict, and the deaths of the three missing teens found in Hebron will surely add fuel to the flames. People around the world are mourning for Eyal Yifrah, 19, Naftali Frenkel and Gil-Ad Shaer, both 16, alongside their families.
