CNN reports that when firefighters arrived at the Mariner's Cove Motor Inn around 5:33 a.m. they found the second floor of the building engulfed in flames. Officials say there were around 40 people staying at the inn when the fire broke out.

Reports indicate that at least three of the people staying at the inn were killed in the blaze, and another eight were injured including a woman who was spotted in a window, then was rescued by firefighters. Officials say the woman hid in the bathroom, under a running shower, and that is what saved her life. Her condition is unknown, but she is believed to be among the eight injured victims.

Fire officials reported that the fire was under control by 7:04 a.m., and after a safety assessment, rescuers were able to sift through the debris looking for possible victims.

The identities of the three people who were reportedly killed were not released at the time of this publication.
