If your little one is too small for a full costume at Halloween, crochet a pumpkin hat to keep his or her head warm and the baby can still celebrate the season in style. It’s easy to make most any hat pattern resemble a pumpkin – simply crochet it using bright orange yarn and add some sort of green or brown trim or pompon to the top for the stem.
A crocheted pumpkin hat is also a good prop for photographers to use for whimsical Halloween photo shoots for infants and babies. If you need a gift for a photographer friend, consider crocheting a pumpkin hat to add to their collection of photo props.
If you don’t have a favorite children’s hat pattern to turn into a pumpkin, try one of these free patterns that are already written up for you. One of the patterns even has instructions for all sizes from infant to adult, so you can make hats for the whole family for a fun Halloween photo op.
