NBA’s brightest young stars join forces to talk video games, life and sports in 2K event in New York City yesterday.
The “Highlight” athletes for “NBA 2K15” consist of NBA All-Stars James Harden, Steph Curry, Anthony Davis and “NBA 2K15” cover athlete Kevin Durant. The event was moderated by TNT’s “Inside the NBA” Ernie Johnson and saw the stars discuss everything from pop culture to their careers and the legacy of the basketball video game series.
Among the highlights of the discussion were Harden’s comments that he’s the best “all-around” player in the NBA, Durant’s statement that he’s the best scorer in the league and Davis proclamation that he is the premier shot blocker in the NBA, “of course.” Last season Davis had 189 blocks, third in the league behind Serge Ibaka and DeAndre Jordan, who both played more games than him.
In terms of addressing the gameplay of “NBA 2K15,” Curry, who led the Golden State Warriors with 1,873 points last season, admitted the graphics for the upcoming game were spot-on.”
While the laid back environment of the chat opened the door for trash talking, the “Highlight” athletes did anything but. All of their talk of their abilities was supported by their stats from a year ago. Last season, Harden averaged 25.4 PPG, as well as 4.5 RPG and 5.8 assists, making him a rare-triple threat on the court. Durant, the league’s MVP last season, averaged 32 PPG to lead the league and added 7.7 RPG and 5.5 assists.
