According to a Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 press release by Manchester Police, members of the department’s Special Enforcement Division (SED), in conjunction with Salem, NH Police Department detectives, conducted a multi-jurisdictional sting operation on Wednesday. The operation yielded four arrests, approximately $2600 worth of heroin, a small quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and over $1,000 in United States currency.
Manchester detectives arrested Michael McManus, 34, and Amanda Gurley, 24, both of 14 Beech Hill Drive, Manchester. McManus, the target of the sting operation, is charged with the felonies Possession with Intent to Distribute and Habitual Offender (Driving Offense). Gurley is charged with one misdemeanor count of Possession of a Controlled Drug.
Salem detectives arrested Reynaldo Dejesus-Sanchez, 32, of 9B Camellia Teoli Way, Lawrence, MA. and Leonela Delacruz, 21, of 25 1/2 Summer Street #3, Lawrence, MA. Both are charged with Conspiracy for Possession with Intent to Distribute. Delacruz was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug.
The release stated the drug investigation led to a search warrant being granted to SED detectives pertaining to McManus. He was stopped in his motor vehicle, at the intersection of South Willow Street and March Avenue by officers from the Community Policing Division at 11:50 a.m.
Detectives then conducted a search warrant of McManus’ 14 Beech Hill Drive home and found drug paraphernalia, marijuana and over $1,000 in cash. A Manchester Police K-9, trained in drug detection, was able to locate the aforementioned items within the confines of the residence. Based on this, they also arrested Gurley.
A short time after the search warrant was executed on McManus’ Beech Hill Drive apartment, Salem, detectives stopped a motor vehicle in the parking lot of the Rockingham Mall. They stopped the vehicle based on prior intelligence reports about Dejesus-Sanchez and Delacruz’ involvement in the illegal drug operation. The vehicle was seized while the detectives applied for an additional search warrant to search Dejesus-Sanchez’ vehicle.
Delacruz was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug due to the fact she had a small quantity of marijuana in her possession at the time of the vehicle stop. The collaborative efforts of the two departments aided in the removal of a large quantity of heroin from the streets of New Hampshire, police said.
