25 cars were involved in an Ohio pileup due to icy conditions on the road. On Dec. 24, NewsOXY reported that slippery road conditions caused a major problem on Interstate 90 eastbound earlier today. No one was injured but almost every car needed to be towed away, several severely damaged.
"Tow trucks are clearing vehicles. No estimated time of reopening has been said by law enforcement on the scene," tweeted ODOT Cleveland. They have reported that I-90 is still closed and there is no ETA on its reopening. It has been reported that ODOT crews are on the road removing snow and treating the ground with sand.
The 25 cars in the Ohio pileup ranged in size from PT Cruisers to tractor trailers. Unfortunately, slippery situations affect cars and trucks alike and there really isn't a way to protect oneself from ice. Driving slow and using extreme caution when you must travel in dangerous weather is always advised.
Alternate routes for I-90 travelers include state Route 306 and state 615 northbound to state Route 2 eastbound (via NewsOXY).
