The Freehold Area Running Club will be staging their 24th Annual St Paddy’s Day 10 Miler and the 18th Annual Leprechaun 5K on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Michael J. Tighe Park, Georgia Road, Freehold Township, NJ.
There is sure to be plenty of green out for the traditional run which always attracts a huge field..
The 10 mile course starts inside the park at 9:30 AM and makes its way through some nice back roads which include several rolling type hills before returning back to the park. The 5K starts shortly thereafter at 9:45 AM also inside the park and makes a loop outside the park before returning to the finish inside the park.

Leading the men last year were Craig Segal of Highlands, NJ and Robert Dennis of Princeton, NJ who finished in a virtual dead heat in a time of 52:37. The win was given to Craig Segal by a few tenths of a second. Coming in third was Jeff Propert of Wall in a time of 58:24.
For the women it was Brondwyn Oleary of Cliffwood Beach in a time of 1:05:08. She was followed by Sara Anitrani of Red Bank in 1:06:51 and then Keara McGraw of largo, Fl in 1:09:39.
In the 5K
In the 5k last year for the men it was 16 year old Bill Foster flying to a finish in 17:23. He was followed by John Walsh of Ramsey in 18:51 and then Alejandro Penaloza of Colts neck in 19:37.
For the women it was Christine Altland of Hazlet in a time of 21:02 followed by Jenna Kugel age 14 of Skillman in a time of 21:52 and then Maddie Whaley of Cranbury in 22:52.
After the races awards will be presented to overall and age group winners. Runners as usual will be treated to a post-race party with hot dogs, snacks and beer.
The race is staged by the Freehold Area Running Club and many dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to stage an awesome event.
