When you only get 45 minutes for lunch, having in mind a place to go is important. Normally, that is something that is decided before the buzzer rings for time to eat. Today was no such day. Luck was in the cards and a wonderful new treat was discovered.
Hot Dog Stop is located in the Scottsdale Promenade at Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard. Now if you are like most folks, you live in one part of Phoenix, and work in another. In this case, work is in North Scottsdale. A bit far from Glendale, yes, however this is one find that could not be kept secret no matter what the location.
There is outside patio seating for when the weather starts to heat up, with a shade tree offering shelter from the sun. The inside of the restaurant is simple, yet classy. A bar lines the window at the front door, with sit down tables dotted in a cozy setting. The smell of fresh baked bread permeates the air mixed with hot dogs grilling or steaming. And you have as many flavors of dogs as Baskin Robbins has ice cream.
Hot Dog Stop offers 22 different gourmet treats such as the Philly Dog. Served open faced on a homemade bun, grilled onion, green and red peppers cover to overflowing a Hebrew National wiener. Off to the side is a 4oz serving of freshly made coleslaw. To accompany the dog you have your choice of french fries, yam fries (healthy!), onion rings, broccoli & cheese, and an assortment of other side items.
Also available for your hungry appetite are malt milkshakes, ice cream, various assorted fruits, salad, and deli sandwiches. Alcohol is served to diners over 21. Parking is tight so be prepared in case you may have to walk.
