21 World mythology books that are free for the Kindle

Here's another great way to use your Kindle or Kindle app in your homeschool. There are dozens of mythology books that are free on Amazon, for myths ranging from Greek to Irish to Sioux.

Here's a round-up of some of the free mythology Kindle books on Amazon.

Be sure to screen these stories before sharing them with young children, as some can be violent and disturbing. Myths and Legends of the Sioux has some very short, interesting stories but also has one where a trickster kills babies and tricks their mothers into eating them, for instance.

I have included only a sampling of books that were best reviewed or seemed to do the best job of covering each region. Keep in mind that many of these historic books contain racism that was typical for that time period. I have omitted the worst of these books, but I left those books that seemed to have enough otherwise valuable content to make them worth the download for some readers. This is a good opportunity to talk to kids about the words and perceptions of those time periods.

I have not read all of these books, so please comment if you find anything that other readers should know.

Note: All of these books are free as of this writing and most are public domain, but always double check the price before clicking to purchase.
