Autoblog reported earlier today (Jan. 8 2014) that official press photos for the 2015 Subaru WRX STI have been leaked ahead of its official reveal at the NAIAS ( North American International Auto Show). As is almost the industry norm, it seems public relations at Subaru can't keep photos on on lock down. The internet has already gotten wind of these photos and many liken the new 2015 Subaru WRX STI to follow that boy racer look popularized by its competitor, the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

The photos confirm that the 2015 Subaru WRX STI will come equipped standard with a gigantic spoiler, come standard in World Rally Car Championship racing blue and iconic BBS Gold rims.

What we already know about the 2015 Subaru WRX STI is that it will be the most powerful WRX STI yet. The 2015 Subaru WRX STI is expected to use a turbocharged 2.5L boxer four making a bit over 300HP and 295 lbs-ft of torque.Unlike the regular WRX which uses a 2.0L engine derived from the Subaru Forester, this WRX STI engine will be unique only to this trim level.

Don't expect to find a hatchback or coupe as the 2015 Subaru WRX STI will come in sedan form only.

It seems Subaru has returned to it's boy racer roots. The Subaru WRX STI is and will always be based on it's more pedestrian father, the regular Subaru Impreza. As such, the WRX STI represents a regular looking commuter car with just enough aerodynamic add-ons, power and performance to let people know it means business.

While we don't expect much in terms of style from the 2015 Subaru WRX STI and are not surprised with how the looks turned out, we do expect it to perform like stink and blow the doors off cars three times its price.
