The Tournament of Roses notified the media today in a press release that the 2015 Rose Parade Grand Marshal will be announced on Friday, May 9, 2014. Short notice, but plenty of time to get your guesses in for who best fits the theme “Inspiring Stories.”

In a January interview with Examiner, Pres. Rich Chinen told us why he chose the theme, but did not give any hints as to who the Grand Marshal might be. He did say it could be more than one person—but then again, it might not be. He also praised the inspiration he gets from the hundreds of Tournament volunteers who put on America’s New Year’s Celebration every year.

We took the liberty of making two suggestions which would appeal to both local and international viewers: the Mars Science Laboratory (aka Curiosity) team at the Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, led by JPL director Charles Elachi; or Bill Nye the Science Guy, who is both a television celebrity and CEO of the Pasadena-based Planetary Society.

Okay, okay, enough with the geekiness: Who would you pick as the person or persons who best fits the theme “Inspiring Stories”?

Post your answer on Facebook at All Things Rose Parade or email us at lbmonteros@yahoo.com. Just do it by Friday at 8 a.m.!
