New 370Z is latest add to the NISMO line

The newly refreshed 2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO was unexpectedly revealed today (May 16) at the annual gathering of Nissan enthusiasts at Fontana Dam in North Carolina. Wth this introduction, the NISMO lineup includes the new 370Z NISMO plus the 2015 GT-R NISMO and the 2014 Juke NISMO RS (both unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in late 2013) which is a more powerful version of the current Juke NISMO. Nissan has also recently shown a NISMO high performance version of a Sentra (based on the 2014 model) that is very likely to be added in 2015.

Subtle changes plus a new Tech Grade model

Slated to go on sale in July 2014, the 2015 370Z NISMO features subtle yet distinctive exterior changes and an enhanced interior along with some performance improvements offered in an expanded model selection that offers both 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmissions and a new Tech Grade 370Z NISMO, says Nissan.

“NISMO is the heart and soul of Nissan performance, both for the track and on the street, so it’s fitting that we are showing the dramatic new 2015 370Z NISMO for the first time at a gathering of our most loyal and enthusiast owners,” said Nissan Chief Planning Officer and Executive Vice President Andy Palmer. He added, “The new 370Z NISMO joins the recently introduced Nissan GT-R NISMO and Nissan JUKE NISMO RS, giving performance fans a range of fresh, factory tuned NISMO models to enjoy.”

Nissan says that subtle, yet aggressive changes have been made to the exterior to improve the dynamic appearance as well as optimizing front and rear down force plus cosmetic changes including a new, deep front fascia with LED Hyper Daytime Running Lights, black headlight bezels, NISMO emblem and signature NISMO red stripe accent on the integrated front chin spoiler. The red accent continues on redesigned side sills and on the black-color side view mirrors and across the lower portion of the redesigned rear fascia. The unique NISMO rear spoiler shape has been revised and made a bit smaller. Standard running gear for the 2015 370Z will be restyled 19-inch NISMO super-lightweight forged aluminum-alloy wheels that feature a twin-five spoke design and a new charcoal gray machine-finish.

The unique NISMO-styled interior has redesigned black-and-red Recaro leather-appointed seats with Alcantara accents. The new seats have been co-developed with Recaro for the 370Z NISMO to provide more uniform body pressure and better all-direction holding during acceleration, braking and cornering. The interior is highlighted with red seat trim and stitching, the NISMO logo, and is complimented by an Alcantara leather-wrapped steering wheel and NISMO red tachometer.

Power and Performance

For 2015, the 370Z NISMO will offer two transmission choices to go with the 350-horsepower 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL). The close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission continues as standard now with - SynchroRev Match - the world’s first synchronized downshift rev matching manual transmission, which allows rev-matched heel-toe-like downshifting, according to Nissan. And, for the first time, a new and refined 7-speed automatic with Downshift Rev Matching (DRM), Adaptive Shift Control and manual shift mode with paddle shifters will be available. The 370Z NISMO powertrains are matched to an exclusive, tuned H-configured exhaust system design with muffler tuning along with optimized calibration that adds 18 horsepower more than a standard 370Z Coupe (with torque rated at 276 lb-ft).

The 370Z NISMO 4-wheel independent suspension has been refined and includes a NISMO-branded strut tower brace for enhanced body rigidity, performance dampers to help minimize road-input vibrations plus special springs and stabilizer bars – contributing to the NISMO 370Z’s handling and performance feel. Also standard are large Nissan Sport Brakes and a Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD) – with a shorter final drive ratio for better acceleration feel.

New 370Z NISMO Tech Grade

True to its name, the new 370Z NISMO Tech Grade model adds a hard drive-based Nissan Navigation System with 7.0-inch VGA touch-sensitive display, RearView Monitor, Bose Audio System, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth, auto-dimming rearview mirror and HomeLink Universal Transceiver.

Choosing a color for your new 2015 370Z NISMO will be easy as it is offered in just four exterior colors – Solid Red, Magnetic Black, Brilliant Silver and Pearl White.
