I was told that a new 2015 GMC Yukon with 4-wheel-drive would be furnished for a full week's test drive. I was excited because I knew that would be a great week to check out all the possibilities that this vehicle could offer. It was white in color and powered by a new 5.3-liter V-8 engine. The engine was equipped with Active Fuel Management, variable valve timing, and direct injection. These all contributed to help with an approximate 10-percent better fuel efficiency.

The Yukon was first introduced by GMC in 1992. At that time, it was an all-new design and was planned to replace the old 'Jimmy' full-size SUV. The Yukon has done its job well and there are many of them on the road. For 2015, there are many new features to help drivers get the most out of their vehicles.

The 2015 model Yukon features an all-new exterior and look. There are inlaid doors that help with a quieter ride and well as improved aerodynamics. The electric power steering enhances the driving dynamics. There are new fold-flat second row and third row seats. These fold-flat seats are even available with a power-folding feature. The power rear liftgate is available as an option that can be programmed for various height settings. There is a new OnStar 4G LTE with available Wi-Fi hotspot.

For safety concerns, the new 2015 Yukon offers a segment-first front seat center air bag. There are additional standard air bags such as head-curtain side air bags and seat-mounted side-impact air bags. Adaptive Cruise Control is available with a Crash Imminent Braking feature. The rearview camera system is standard.

The new powertrain offers 355 horsepower with 383 lb-ft of torque. The new Yukon is rated for 8,200 lbs of towing capacity. Cargo room is spacious, measuring 94.7 cubic feet of space. Although I did haul a number of boxes, I did not come close to filling up all the available space. Loading and unloading is very easy.

Driving the new Yukon is easy because the interior and seating is so comfortable. Unless you are driving in four-wheel mode over rough terrain, this SUV takes to the road as smoothly as most sedans. It is EPA rated at only 16 mpg city but 22 mpg for the highway. During my week-long test drive, I achieved an overall average of 21.1 mpg with about a 50-50 split city and highway driving.

The 2015 GMC Yukon is built in Arlington, Texas and is available at GMC dealerships. It is a full-size SUV, but it is designed to handle the people, cargo, and towing necessary for many business owners and families. Check it out yourself and see if the new Yukon might be what you have been looking to purchase.
