Jalopnik reported earlier today (Jan 7, 2014) that final power number were accidentally leaked by General Motors and reveal that the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will be making 620 HP and 650 lbs-ft of torque. This comes just days before the official reveal date which is slated to be Jan. 13 at the North American International Auto Show.
Power will most likely come from General Motors LT4 V8 leaked earlier by Jalopnik last month.Initially it was thought that the Z06 would go without using any sort of forced induction and would be going for an all naturally aspirated approach, but later reports now see the LT4 V8 receiving a healthy dose air thanks to supercharging. Mind you, this 2015 ZO6 is just 18 HP away from what the 2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is making.
Early predictions already peg the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 to be a world supercar contender at close to 800HP. Already as it stands, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is already within striking distance of the 2014 Dodge SRT Viper ( only 30 HP away).
Motor Trend famously pitted the last generation ZR1 against the Viper last year and saw the ZR1 eek out ahead of the Viper by mere seconds and had hot shoe Randy Pobst favor the bowtie in front of the snake.Only time will tell to see just how better the ZR1 will be against the Viper. Not to mention, that there will most likely be comparisons against the Z06 and Viper as it is.
Twitter is already abuzz with this latest news and most car enthusiasts are raving about the power numbers and looking forward to some epic comparisons in the near future.
