Marcos Ambrose proved to be king of the road course again on Saturday, taking home the checkered flag in the Zippo 200 at The Glen Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen International. It was Ambrose’s fourth win in the series at The Glen and fifth on a road course, a series record.

Ambrose’s day wasn’t without flaw, however, as he and runner-up Kyle Busch tangled early in the event.

“It just shows you how these races are never over,” said Ambrose post-race. “You can’t quit. Just because you’re in the grass backwards doesn’t mean your race is done."

Joey Logano and his Team Penske teammate, pole sitter Brad Keselowski, finished third and fourth, respectively, followed by Busch’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Matt Kenseth. Rookie Chase Elliott was the highest finishing Nationwide Series regular, coming home sixth, ahead of Elliott Sadler, Ty Dillon, Paul Menard and Brian Scott.

Elliott leads his JR Motorsports teammate Regan Smith by 12 points in the points standings, followed by Sadler and Dillon, tied for third and trailing Elliott by 13 points.

The Nationwide Series visits another road course – Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course – next weekend, racing on Saturday, August 16th. Keep up with the action at
