2014 WWE Royal Rumble preview and predictions

This Sunday, WWE presents the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble, live from Pittsburgh, PA. Below is the scheduled card as well as my predictions.

Tag Team Championship: Cody Rhodes and Goldust © vs. Road Dogg and Billy Gunn

I like Rhodes and Goldust to retain here.

Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar

Classic booking 101 as Show has gotten the best of Lesnar the last few weeks, thus Lesnar win Sunday.

Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt

Bryan needs the win here as he begins a program with a top name heading into Wrestle Mania.

No DQ or count out match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton © vs. John Cena

Honestly, I’m unsure who goes over here. My gut says Orton retains and heads into Wrestle Mania with the title.

30 Man Royal Rumble match, winner gets a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestle Mania (20 entrants have been made official: Batista, Alberto Del Rio, Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston, The Miz, R-Truth, Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, Tag Team Champion Cody Rhodes, Rey Mysterio, Tag Team Champion Goldust, Fandango, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, United States Champion Dean Ambrose, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, Damien Sandow, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso)

We know Punk will be No. 1 and that we can expect some guest entrants (possibly Sheamus and Chris Jericho, among others). Looking at the confirmed names, only Batista, Punk and Del Rio have a legitimate shot at winning. I’m going with Punk to last the entire match and win the Rumble.
