The Winter Fancy Food Show is just a few days away. During this annual, three-day specialty food much sought after event, more than 80,000 on-trend products will be shown from 1,300 exhibitors.
Here are my modest few highlights:
1. Quinoa again
Quinoa has entered grocery store shelves and kitchen pantries during the last couple of years not only as a grain but as an addition to savory and sweet snacks.
Simply 7 Snacks is launching their Quinoa Chips in four flavors: Sea Salt, Cheddar, Barbeque and Sour Cream & Onion. The Simply 7 Quinoa chips are non-GMO, gluten free and kosher certified (Booth # 1654).
Perez Gourmet is also adding a gluten-free Quinoa Pasta to their line of products in Curvo Rigato, Spaghetti and Fusilli shapes (Booth # 562)
2. Free from gluten
Gluten-free has gone mainstream and therefore, expect more free from gluten items to arrive in all grocery sectors from breads to snacks.
Enjoy Life Foods is launching their gluten-free 69% Cacao Dark Chocolate Morsels – the only dark chocolate morsel that is gluten, dairy, nut and soy free. Enjoy Life Foods will also showcase their line of cookies and energy bars (Booth # 1458)
Gratify Foods will showcase their gluten-free pretzels that includes Sea Salt Twists and Sea Salt Sticks (Booth #1184)
And Free from ….all
Partners Crackers is presenting their Free for All Kitchen Crackers that have no corn, rice, soy but are made with cassava flour and five ancient grains and will be available in three flavors (Booth # 3408)
The Pasta Chips are here. Launched by Vintage Italia, Pasta Chips made of freshly baked pasta dough and topped with natural herbs and spice in five distinctive flavors including Pasta Marinara, Alfredo and Sea Salt at the New at the Shelf Area, Aisle 200
Sofi Winner Effie’s Homemade will present their newest two “biscuits”, the Rye-Walnut Cakes and the Malted Cocoa Cakes with Toasted Coconut that we hope will be as delicious as their signature Oatcakes (Booth # 386)
From the UK, new Walkers Shortbread Walkers will unveil a new cookie, its Mini Scottie Dog Shortbreads (Booth # 476)
Stevia, Monk Fruit and Agave Nectar are new sweeteners, said to be healthier than sugar.
Terrapin Ridge Farms vinaigrette dressings are gluten-free, vegan, fat and oil free and are sweetened with agave nectar and will be available in three flavors including Toasted Sesame & Ginger, Dijon Mustard, Garlic & Herb (Booth # 1757)
Koochikoo will present their newest sugar-free cookies sweetened with the monk fruit. I can’t wait to taste the Cheerful Chocolatey Chip Cookies, one flavor of the range (Booth # 1777)
Perugina, famous for its Baci, launches its Double Layer Baci Perugina candy bar that combines Perugina’s Luisa Dark chocolate, made of 51% cacao, with a layer of gianduia (milk chocolate with ground hazelnuts), and a “message” in a wrapper inside….(Booth #2711)
Chuao Chocolatier will showcase its new Pop Corn Pop bar, a blend of puffed whole grains, toasted corn chips, popping candy and sea salt in creamy milk chocolate. The movie theater addition is also available in a 50-calorie ChocoPod mini bar (Booth #2506)
Finally, I would definitely stop by the Maine International Trade Center to taste Sullivan Harbor Farm Smokehouse tequila-infused smoked salmon (Booth # 5704)
There are literary thousands new products that will be shown on the floor of the 2014 Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco this weekend. I am sure that visitors will find at least ten products or more to taste and like.
