2014 U.S.A. Track & Field Outdoor Championships: Day Two

Day two of the 2014 U.S.A. Track & Field Outdoor Championships were held Thursday at Hornet Stadium. The crowds were light in the morning but by the time the heavy hitters of the track & field world would start their preliminaries, the stadium started to fill up. The meets began at 10:00 A.M. and the morning was dominated by the Women's Junior Heptathlon and the Men's Junior Decathlon. The Track & Field events begin at 3:00 P.M. with the Men's Hammer Throw Finals.

The results of Thursday's events are as followed: the top three finalists of the Men's Hammer Throw were Kibwe Johnson (74.16 M), A.G. Kruger (73.34 M) and Chris Cralle (72.83 M). The top five qualifiers for the Women's 800 Meter Run were Laura Roesler, Molly Beckwith, Brenda Martinez, Maggie Vessey and Maggie Vessey. The top sixteen finishers who qualified in the 800 Meter Run will face off each other Friday in the semi-finals. The top five qualifiers for the Men's 800 Meter Run were Duane Solomon, Elijah Greerike, Michael Rutt, Drew Windle and Charles Jock. The semi-finals will be held Friday.

The Women's Triple Jump Finals top three finishers were Amanda Smock (13.77 M), Ciarra Brewer (13.57 M) and Lynnika Pitts (13.57 M). The Women's 400 Meter Dash top five finishers were Jessica Beard, Phyllis Francis, Briana Nelson, Natasha Hastings and Francena McCorory. The Women's Javelin Throw Finals top three finishers were Kara Patterson (62.43 M), Brittany Borman (62.05 M) and Leigh Petranoff (57.80 M). The Men's 400 Meter Dash top five qualifiers were Gil Roberts, LaShawn Merritt, Josh Mance, Vernon Norwood and Michael Berry.

Men's 1500 Meter top five qualifiers were Leonel Manzano, Lopez Lomong, William Leer, Matthew Hillenbrand and Liam Boylan-Pett. The Women's 100 Meter Dash preliminaries were held and the top five qualifiers were English Gardner, Tori Bowie, Tawanna Meadows, Bianca Knight and Joanna Atkins. The Men's 100 Meter Dash preliminaries were held thereafter and the top five qualifiers were Mike Rodgers, Charles Silmon, Ryan Bailey, DionDre Batson and Sean McLean. The Preliminaries for the Women's 3000 Meter Steeplechase qualifiers and the top five finishers were Emma Coburn, Bridget Franek, Aisha Praught, Nicole Bush and Ashley Higginson.

The final events of the second day of the outdoor track & field championships were the men's and women's 10,000 Meter Runs. The top three finalists for the women were first place Kim Conley (32:02.07), second Kim Conley (32:02.07) and third Amy Hastings (32:18.81). The men's finalists were Galen Rupp in first (28:12.07) second place Chris Derrick (28:18.18) and in third was Ryan Vail (28:26.02). It was a great day of track & field competition and Friday's meets will be even better.

Friday's meets will be the Men's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase preliminaries, the Men and Women's 100 Meter semi's and finals, 400 Meter semi-finals and the 5,000 Meter Run finals. The Men and Women's preliminary hurdles event will be held as well along with the Women's pole vault, Men's triple jump and Men's discus throw finals. To become a part of the 2014 U.S.A.
