Opened in 1955, Road America, the road course complex in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, has hosted numerous series in its 55-year-plus history, including CART/IndyCar, USAC, GRAND-AM and ISMA. The 4.048-mile, 14-turn course currently hosts eight weekends of spectator racing, including NASCAR’s Nationwide Series, the SCCA, the new TUDOR United Sports Car Championship and AMA Superbikes. There is also a 0.8-mile karting course that hosts weekly racing and six weekend events.
The 2014 racing season at Road America gets underway with the Spring Vintage Weekend, May 16th through 18th, followed by the AMA Pro Racing SUBWAY SuperBike Double-Header, May 30th through June 1st. Also in June: the AHRMA Vintage Motorcycle Classic – June 6th through 8th, the WeatherTech Chicago Region SCCA Sprints – June 12th through 15th, and the Nationwide Series/Pirelli World Challenge/Trans-Am weekend – June 19th through 21st. The OPTIMA Faceoff at Road America takes place June 22nd, followed by the HAWK with Brian Redman vintage race, taking place July 17th through 20th. The new TUDOR United Sports Car Series visits Road America August 7th through 10th, and the event schedule closes out in September with the VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival – September 12th through 14th.
