Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida will host NASCAR’s championship showdowns for the 13th-straight season in 2014. Opened in 1995, the track hosts the season finales for NASCAR’s top three series – Sprint Cup, Nationwide, and Camping World Truck Series – during Ford Championship Weekend, November 14th through 16th.
The speedway was part of rejuvenation efforts for the area after the devastation of Hurricane Andrew. The track reflects the area’s Art Deco Miami Beach district. The track has been reconfigured twice to make it more competitive, and in addition to the 1.5-mile oval, is also home to a 2.3-mile, 11-turn road course. In the past, Homestead-Miami also hosted the IndyCar finale, and the Nationwide Series finale has been contested at the track since 1995.
The 2014 schedule for Homestead-Miami Speedway currently features numerous driving schools, as well as NASCAR’s Championship Weekend. In action on Friday, November 14th is the Camping World Truck Series, followed by the Nationwide Series finale on Saturday, November 15th. The weekend wraps up with the presentation of the Sprint Cup on Sunday, November 16th.
