Brainerd International Raceway and Resort, home of the 33rd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, is located at 5523 Birchdale Rd. in Brainerd, Minnesota. It’s popular among NHRA fans that enjoy camping thanks to the availability of camping and other recreational activities like fishing.
The facility is more than 40 years, and consists of a quarter-mile drag strip, a 3.1-mile road course, and a 2.5-mile road course. The drag strip dates back to 1969, and also hosts weekly action. The road courses have hosted SCCA, Trans-Am, and Superbike series, as well as NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series West.
Brainerd International Raceway and Resort hosts a variety of special events each year, and 2014 is no exception. Some of the major events on the schedule include the Thunder at the Lakes NHRA divisional race on May 31st and June 1st and the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals for the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, August 14th through 17th.
