Atlanta Dragway, located at 500 E. Ridgeway Rd. in Commerce, Georgia, was built in 1975 and originally purposed as an airport - in fact, the track's original timing tower was the airport control tower. The track became NHRA-sanctioned in 1980, and renovations took place from 1987 to 1989; in 1993, the track was purchased by the NHRA.
Today, the track hosts the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals, in its 34th year in 2014. The event takes place Friday through Sunday, May 16th through 18th. The drag strip also hosts weekly drag racing series on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as special events on select Sundays. Weekly action gets underway in early March, ending in November.
Tickets for the NHRA Southern Nationals are not yet on sale, but will go on sale through www.nhratix.com when available. Information on group packages and corporate packages is available here. Find out more about the track and other events at www.atlantadragway.com.
