The 'real' name for the World Championship of Bass Fishin is the Toyota Texas Bass Classic. The lead sponsor is Toyota and because this was an outdoor event for the outdoorsmen, the Tundra and Tacoma were on prominent display. It allowed visitors to get an up-close-and-personal look at the new 2013 Tundra.

2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition

Toyota had various exhibits and displays on the grounds of the bass tournament at Lake Fork in East Texas. The primary showcase was the 1794 Toyota Tundra. This is a fantastic luxury-outfitted pickup truck. The 1794 moniker is the date a ranch is South Texas was started. That ranch became the longest lasting ranch in private hands up until the land was sold to Toyota. I was fortunate to attend the ground-breaking for the new Tundra plant, located south of San Antonio along the San Antonio River, and met and spoke with several of the grandchildren of the owners.

This 1794 edition is the bit new for the 2014 Toyota Tundra. It gets special LED running lights, a lot more chrome up front, and power-folding side mirrors. At the Bass Fishing Classic, the doors were all open on the display model because Toyota wanted visitors to see and feel all the soft and luxurious leather. It also features a moonroof and a JBL audio system.

Other models were also on display including specially-outfitted Tundras and Tacomas. After all, this was an outdoor show being held on a lake. The 2014 Toyota Tundra brings new looks and new features to the proven pickup. Generally, the engines, overall measurements, and primary details have not changed from the last model year. Big new is that Toyota adopted the SAE J2807 rating, meaning that the Tundra has become the only full-size pickup that has the capabilities that meet the industry agreed-upon standard for towing. Other trucks currently use other towing capacity ratings.

Also for 2014, there are a few new technological updates and some equipment updates. The base model is a V-6 engine with 270-horsepower. A mid-range V-8 engine is available that is rated at 310-horsepower. The top-of-the-line Tundra engine is a 5.7-liter V-8 that is rated at 381-horsepower and a lot more torque.

In addition to all the displays at the Bass Classic, Toyota built and is providing an off-road course that allows visitors to take a Toyota four-wheel-drive model over the area. This has been one of the most popular participant features at the event besides the music concerts.

The headline music concerts are featuring Pat Green, Little Big Town, and Justin Moore. Pat Green is a three-time Grammy nominee and performs regularly on tour with Willie Nelson and the Dave Matthews Band. The 'openers' for the concerts include groups Tyler and the Tribe, Southern Slang, Backroad Anthem, and Sister C.

The Toyota Texas Bass Classic for 2014 is being held at Lake Fork and Toyota and their featured Tundra 2014 pickup truck is the lead sponsor. Toyota is also the official named vehicle for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation and the official named vehicle for the ShareLunker. Texas dealerships that contributed to the Bass Classic and helped provide 2014 Tundras and other Toyota vehicles were Patt Lobb Toyota of McKinney, Toyota of Lewisville, Street Toyota, and North Park Toyota of San Antonio.

The Toyota PR message says it fairly well, “The new 2014 Tundra, built right here in Texas … so get in and get away from it all.” If you did not get a chance to visit the Toyota Texas Bass Classic in East Texas and see the 2014 Tundra, stop by a Toyota dealership and check it out yourself.
