It has become a tradition and now the Thornton Winery Champagne Jazz Series is celebrating 26 years of great jazz shows. The setting is in the beautiful wine country of Temecula and the address is 32575 Rancho California Road. The telephone number is 951-699-0099 and the website is http://www.thorntonwine.com. The first show kicks off on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 7pm and is called Jazz Attack featuring: guitarist Peter White, trumpeter Rick Braun and saxophonist Euge Groove. On Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 7pm, Chris Isaak performs.
On Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 7pm, the one and only guitar virtuoso and vocalist George Benson will headline and comedian Alonzo Bodden will also perform. Also on June 21, 2014 at 7pm, guitarist Lee Ritenour and Spyro Gyra will take center stage. The month of July has several terrific artists scheduled to perform at Thornton Winery. On July 3, 2014 at 7:30 pm, the legendary Boz Scaggs will perform and on Saturday, July 5, 2014, saxophonist Kenny G has a 7pm show.
On Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 5pm, it will be an evening with trumpeter Chris Botti. The Pat Metheny Unity Group and Bruce Hornsby with Sonny Emory have a 5pm show on Saturday July 19, 2014. On Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 5pm, it will be an evening with Jesse Cook. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 7pm is called Love & Soul featuring a pair of guitarist/vocalists Norman Brown and Jonathan Butler.
During the months of August, September and October the list of great singers and musicians include: Bobby Caldwell, Keiko Matsui, Trombone Shorty, Larry Graham, Al Jarreau, the Summer horns featuring Dave Koz, Mindi Abair, Gerald Albright and Richard Elliott. The series will rap up in October with guitarist Earl Klugh, Hiroshima and saxophonist David Sanborn. There are so many great shows and performers lined up and so many to choose from. Mark you calender and go out to see and hear some live jazz.
