The Sweet Auburn Music Festival, a multi-genre music event featuring R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul and Gospel, takes place this weekend August 9th through August 10th 2014. The largest bi-annual street festival in the southeastern United States attracts thousands of patrons, vendors, and performers to the historic and culturally rich Auburn district in Atlanta, Georgia.
All ages are invited and welcome to come and spend the weekend celebrating the experience of being a part of heritage, history, food, music and fun. Kick-off of begins Saturday, Aug 9 10:00 AM with a Bike and Truck show, and multiple performance stages of live entertainment.
The Auburn Festival serves as a part of a larger vision to restore the district to a place of prominence as "the greatest street on the planet." More financial institutions, professionals, educators, entertainers and politicians operated and resided on this one mile of street than any other African American Street in the South. The current aim of Auburn Fest Founders, is to continue in this legacy with the construction of the world's grandest promenade linking the Martin Luther King Jr., National Historic Site to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, transforming the Sweet Auburn Viaduct into a world class destination attracting both tourists and residents.
