Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch took the pole for Friday night’s Nationwide Series VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, besting last weekend’s first-time winner Chase Elliott, who starts outside the front row.
Busch qualified the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry at a speed of 173.681 mph (28.314 seconds), ahead of Elliott’s No. 9 NAPA Chevrolet Camaro at 173.448 mph (28.352 seconds). Busch’s JGR teammate Matt Kenseth starts third (173.106 mph/28.408 seconds), next to Kevin Harvick in fourth (171.662 mph/28.647 seconds).
Ty Dillon and Chris Buescher make up Row Three, followed by Brian Scott and Regan Smith in Row Four. Elliott Sadler, Trevor Bayne, Cale Conley and Lyle Larson round out the top 12 from knock-out qualifying.

Kevin Harvick won the pole for Saturday night’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington with a speed of 183.479 mph (26.802 seconds) in the No. 4 Budweiser Chevrolet SS. Joey Logano starts on the outside pole after a lap of 183.049 mph (26.865 seconds) in knock-out qualifying.
Richard Petty Motorsports drivers Aric Almirola (182.946 mph/26.880 seconds) and Marcos Ambrose (182.485 mph/26.948 seconds) make up Row Two, with Brad Keselowski and Jamie McMurray in Row Three. Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Paul Menard and Martin Truex Jr. round out the top 12.
