Winter storm Hercules has arrived in New England and the list of school and business closings and delays is growing. Many schools and employers are closing early on Jan. 2, 2014. Cancellations are rolling in for Friday, January 3 in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts. (List of closures below)
Bitter cold temperatures and hours of snowfall are expected, forcing school administrators to cancel afternoon activities on Thursday and a full day of school on Friday in Boston, Southeastern MA and most of Rhode Island.

Expected Snowfall Totals: Hercules is expected to dump 6-10" of snow in Rhode Island and up to 15" in eastern MA and the East Bay areas of RI. NBC 10 reports that gusts up to 50 mph are expected in eastern Mass, including Plymouth County, Cape Cod and the Islands.
The snow isn't the only thing prompting schools to shutdown on Friday. Sub-zero temps and wind will make it feel as cold as 10 to 15 degrees below zero.
