2014 Pulitzer Prize for fiction announced

See also

Every year--well, almost every year--the highly esteemed Pulitzer Prize goes to a worthy piece of fiction. Be it novel or short story collection, winning this prize is a huge, huge deal. With a winners list including heavy hitters The Grapes of Wrath, To Kill a Mockingbird, Beloved and Gone with the Wind, the prize seems to guarantee a writer's place in history.

So what novel won this year's prize? None other than Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch. It shouldn't be too big a surprise. Tartt's one of those novel-a-decade writers who manages to knock it out of the park every time, and her heavyweight new release bestseller has been taking the book world by storm since its debut in October. Tartt's previous works include the southern Gothic The Little Friend and cult-followed The Secret History.

Have you read Tartt's novel yet? I'll be reviewing it in the coming weeks.

You can find any of Tartt's novels at your local chain bookstore, online or at an independent bookstore near you (click here for a list). Also look for eBook downloads on your favorite reading devices.
