If these dresses could talk...
The stories that are hidden inside those amazing couture gowns. Many this year were right off the runway! And worn by some of the most talented actresses of our times. The most popular colors were vibrant. not quiet milquetoasts by any impression. Colorful gowns scorched the runway last night. An array of fashion forward choices made for a Red Carpet filled with couture designs fit for a supermodel.
Most of us just can't rock the stark white like some of these starlets managed to do at the Emmy's. I wasn't sure which was more impressive, the dress or the amazing figures wearing them! Of course, Sofia Vergara's star turn in her column dress made more than a few guys forget all about what that Emmy guy was announcing. What a funny, beautiful woman wearing a gown, not the other way around. And the gown was Roberto Cavalli.
Another comedic standout Kristin Wiig is also very much the fashion plate. Nothing about her gown was silly at all, but a masterpiece of couture proportions! She wowed in a simple white slip dress from designer Vera Wang. White is tough to wear, but oh so easy with Wiig's great figure. Plus that coveted lob (or long bob) was chic without being overpowering.
Remember when women of "a certain age" weren't the toast of the evening? Thankfully this was back in the "olden days"( pre FB or Instagram.)... They resigned to wearing granny looks. No more of that nonsense in 2014, ladies! The glam celebs were all about the awe and wow value. Halle Berry's ethereal Elie Saab creation was part princess and part tigress, combining a thigh high slit with tons of flowy fabric. What a stunning look for an ageless beauty! She always does Hollywood proud with her Red Carpet choices. And the hair is always just so pixie cool. (Bring on the scissors, please!)
Who is the gorgeous new mommy rocking the runway in an eye popping orange hue? That is "Scandal" star Kerry Washington. Fearless in Prada, the amazing details as well as stylish hair fit her take charge on-screen role to perfection. This was a couture look that felt current and bold.
This year's Emmy Awards proved to be a feast for any fashionista's eyes.
