The 2014 Preakness live stream and TV coverage is just hours away. The second of the three Triple Crown races will take place today at Pimlico Park in Baltimore, Maryland at 6:18 p.m. ET and all eyes will be on Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome. The young colt will try to stay on the Triple Crown path during today's Preakness live stream race as the second of the three historic races unfold.

According to an ESPN May 16 report, California Chrome is the heavy favorite to win as many Las Vegas bookmakers and horse betting outlets have the derby winner listed at 2/5 odds. However, just because the 2 year-old is predicted to run away from the field this afternoon, doesn't mean it will happen. Unlike the NFL, NBA, MLB and other sports where the team favored does win almost 70 percent of the time, horse racing has been known to see upset after upset.

If California Chrome can pull off the win at Pimlico, the Belmont Stakes will have an electric feel to it this June. The California raised colt would have a chance at becoming the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed pulled off the feat 1978. History isn't on California Chrome's side from the stand point of starting in the number three position. No horse has won the Preakness from the three hole since since 1993.

Add to that the fact that jockey Victor Espinoza would have preferred to start further away from the rail and it makes for some interesting conversations for an upset. You can take those facts with a grain of salt though, as no horse who was a 2/5 or 3/5 favorite has run from the third post position during that time.

If any horse can beat the Kentucky Derby winner to the finish line today it may be Social Inclusion or General A Rod. Vegas odds makers have Social Inclusion at 5/1 and General A Rod listed at 15/1. Fans can catch the 2014 Preakness race on NBC nationally and streaming live online on your PC, tablets and smart phones through NBC Sports Extra.
