When more than 1000 leading golf companies and brands converge on Orlando January 21 the talk will quickly change from birdies and bogeys to he health of one of America's leading participation sports in golf.

That's because is the 61st PGA Merchandise Show is about to begin its run.

Deals will be made and contracts will be signed as the golf industry continues to recover from the recession of a few years ago.

The week includes a massive outdoor demo day at the largest driving range I've ever seen, seminars and meetings, product debuts, more meetings, awards and ceremonies, a few more meetings and the largest golf trade show in the world with more than 10 miles of aisles to walk.

It's massive, and I know this analogy has been used before, but for a golf enthusiast, it's like being a kid in a candy store.

“(Golf) Professionals and industry executives from around the world are preparing now to open the 2014 golf business season with the first “major” on their industry calendar,” states PGA Worldwide Golf Exhibitions Senior Vice President and General Manager Ed Several. “And in 2014, the PGA Merchandise Show will have a major impact on the careers and business success of industry professionals across the globe who will preview and test the newest products; learn from the foremost experts in their fields; and engage with the international golf community through a variety of enjoyable and valuable networking programs.”

While the old guard of golf like Titleist, FootJoy, Bridgestone, and Adams will be attracting a lot of the attention, the show also about the new small company with an innovative idea and even the mom and pop inventor that will be meeting potential customers in the Inventor's Showcase.

More than 40,000 golf industry professionals from around the world will be focusing on how they can better not only their golf business, but the golf industry as a whole at the PGA Show.

They will check out the interactive demonstrations, exhibits, products, innovations, and celebrity appearances over the course of the four days.

I will also be at Demo Day, roaming the floor and have one-on-one meeting set up with about a dozen companies to see what they have in store for 2014. Follow me on Twitter at @RickRoswell to stay up to date on the events, my articles, and the PGA Show as a whole.
