The 2014 MTV Music Video Awards was star-studded as always Sunday, Aug. 24 which was held at the legendary Forum in Inglewood, California. The first of its kind held at the venue. The show proved to be all that is expected from MTV and the music awards as the performances really stole the show all night long. It began with a show stopping performance by Ariana Grande, Nikki Minaj, and Jessie J where Nikki was a consummate professional amidst a wardrobe malfunction where she had to hold her dress closed after a quick wardrobe change from her "Anaconda" outfit to the one for the single 'Bang Bang' released by all 3 divas.
Ariana Grande was filmed holding hands with Big Sean backstage as they've been rumored to be seeing each other which has not yet been confirmed by either one's camps.
The night went on to include a moment of silence for the Michael Brown unrest in Ferguson when Common introduced the award for Best Hip Hop video.
Taylor Swift promoted her new album "1989" while performing "Shake It Off' as Usher channeled Michael Jackson performing "She Came to Give it to You" with Nikki Minaj.
Sam Smith's performance of "Stay With Me" was his MTV Music Awards debut. His performance was simply beautiful and a reminder of the artistry being recognized throughout the night.
Miley Cyrus won for her video "Wrecking Ball" and took home video of the year but did something very gracious by sending a teenage homeless man to the stage to accept her award to raise awareness of the homeless youth epidemic in Los Angeles and around the country. A very gracious and mature turnaround from her performance last year at the VMA's which sparked controversy but catapulted her into the celebrity stratosphere for some time.
But Beyonce stole the show with her amazing performance of all of her songs in a medley performance that ended with her accepting her Michael Jackson video vanguard award from her one and onlys husband Jay Z and beautiful daughter Blue Ivy. She thanked her fans and truly showed why she is Queen Bey.
