NHRA Funny Car driver John Force and Top Fuel driver Tony Schumacher were among the No. 1 qualifiers following Saturday’s final rounds at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway near Denver, Colorado. Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also earned No. 1 qualifiers this weekend.
Force earned the No. 1 spot with a pass of 4.049 seconds at 318.39 mph and faces Jeff Diehl in the first round of eliminations. Robert Hight earned the No. 2 spot in Funny Car, followed by Tim Wilkerson, Cruz Pedregon and Ron Capps.
Schumacher faces first-time qualifier Jenna Haddock in the first round on Sunday after his fast pass of 3.823 seconds at 319.75 mph. Steve Torrence qualified No. 2, with Larry Dixon, Bob Vandergriff and Shawn Langdon rounding out the top five in Top Fuel.
Line earned the Pro Stock No. 1 with a pass of 6.924 seconds at 198.70 mph; he faces Steve Kalkowski in Round One. Allen Johnson, Erica Enders-Stevens, Jeg Coughlin Jr. and Greg Anderson round of the top five.
Arana Jr.’s fast pass of 7.178 seconds at 186.72 mph took to PSM No. 1 spot, and he’ll be up against Charles Sullivan in the first round of eliminations. Teammates Andrew Hines and Eddie Krawiec qualified second and third, followed by Shawn Gann and Michael Ray.
