Odds are it may still be snowing in your city right now as one of the worst winters in American history continues. However no matter what Mother Nature says, Opening Day for the 2014 MLB season is less than a week away and it's time to start thinking about the boys of summer.

According to a Vegas insider update on March 25, the LA Dodgers are this year's early favorites to take home the 2014 World Series trophy at 11/2 followed by the Detroit Tigers at 8/1 and the St. Louis Cardinals at 9/1.

Despite a serious overhaul in Motown, Vegas odds makers still believe Detroit has the talent to not only win the AL Central Division, but the World Series too. The new look Tigers have traded away slugger Prince Fielder to the Rangers, and pitcher Doug Fister to Washington. Add to that the Tigers chose not to resign key players Jhonny Peralta, Omar Infante and Joaquín Benoit.

One more added insult to injury for Detroit is when they lost starting shortstop Jose Iglesias until at least July. Oh yeah, they also lost 100 m.p.h relief pitcher Bruce Rondon for the season this spring too.

Maybe this is a good thing for the Tigers.

The last two season they had what many experts considered the "best team on paper" in baseball, but failed to win a World Series title. Who know, maybe this big shuffle of players will change things for the better. Even if some fans in Detroit have lost faith with the all the new acquisitions, Las Vegas isn't buying it. They still think Detroit will be a playoff team this fall.
