Antron Brown (Top Fuel), John Force (Funny Car) and Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) lead their respective ladders after qualifying for the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota. Eliminations for the event take place Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
Brown posted a fast pass of 3.810 seconds at 318.77 mph to earn the top spot in Top Fuel; he’ll face JR Todd in the first round on Sunday. Doug Kalitta (3.812 seconds at 322.96 mp) qualified No. 2, with Shawn Langdon (3.815 seconds at 321.27 mph), Richie Crampton (3.820 seconds at 320.97 mph) and Bob Vandergriff (3.835 seconds at 318.84 mph) rounding out the top five.
Force took the No. 1 spot during the final round of Funny Car qualifying on Saturday with a pass of 4.060 seconds at 315.27 mph; he faces Bob Bode in Round One on Sunday. Ron Capps (4.064 seconds at 314.17 mph) qualified No. 2, followed by Matt Hagan (4.068 seconds at 311.99 mph), Tommy Johnson Jr. (4.078 seconds at 309.27 mph) and Robert Hight (4.081 seconds at 313.29 mph).
Johnson has a first-round bye with only 15 Pro Stocks in attendance; he earned the No. 1 spot with a fast pass of 6.614 seconds at 208.04 mph. Jason Line is No. 2 with a pass of 6.622 seconds at 208.49 mph, followed by Erica Enders-Stevens at No. 3 with a pass of 6.630 seconds at 207.85 mph. Greg Anderson (6.632 seconds at 208.39 mph) and Jeg Coughlin Jr. (6.636 seconds at 207.91 mph) complete the top five in Pro Stocks.
