The 2014 Kentucky Derby live stream and TV coverage is scheduled for Saturday, May 3 and this year's race may be one of the most wide-open in recent memory. The Kentucky Derby is one of the most popular sporting events held every year and it's also one of the most wagered upon. Outside of the Super Bowl and the NCAA March Madness Tournament, Derby Day brings in millions of dollars to horse tracks all across the US as fans wager on their favorite horse.

According to the Washington Post on May 2, $184.6 million was wagered on last year’s Kentucky Derby race. Yes, almost $200 million big ones were wagered on the derby. Remember, that is $184 million on just the derby race. There are 12 other races that run on Derby Day at Churchill Downs in Kentucky that also bring in a pretty penny.

This year's favorites to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby are California Chrome, Wicked Strong and Danza. Now just because these three are the odds maker's favorites to finish in the top three certainly doesn't mean they will. Last year a 50/1 long shot named Golden Soul nearly pulled off the upset and finished second. Even when you think you know who will win, you never really know!

There are 13 races scheduled today at Churchill Downs, with the first race scheduled to post at 10:30 a.m. ET. The Kentucky Derby race is race number 11 and is scheduled for 6:25 p.m. ET.
