This year, I had the honor of doling out the first ever Kansas City Live! Movie Awards with my partner, fellow Examiner Lonita Cook. We announced the winners on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.
The rules were simple. There were no rules. We could pick anyone we wanted from any movie we saw in 2013.
I tried to choose a different movie for each category, while giving love to the excellent movies that came out, especially toward the end of the year. But I also wanted to make sure to highlight a great movie or performance that may have been forgotten.
For example, The Way, Way Back. A great film with a great performance by Sam Rockwell. He won't get an Oscar nod. But maybe he should.
