JACKSONVILLE, FL – April 29, 2014 – Hot off the presses and according to Mike Kogan, tournament director, "Northeast Florida’s online kayak fishing community and host of the 2014 Columbia Sportswear Jacksonville Kayak Fishing Classic on May 9-10 is pleased to announce more than 370 anglers have already registered to compete for over $80,000 in prizes and gifts, and over 400 kayak anglers are anticipated again at the world’s largest kayak fishing event for the benefit of the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville and Northeast Florida Chapter of Heroes On The Water charities.
Kayak fishing seminars and product events will highlight the week leading up to the Classic which will kickoff with the Costa Captain’s Meeting Friday May 9th.
Thursday May 1st Black Creek Outfitters is hosting a Hobie Kayaks fishing seminar ‘Catching the Classic Slam’ featuring Hobie Ambassador Frank Gregg and Pro Staff Rory Gregg. A Hobie Sport Mirage will also be raffled at the Classic and tickets are available at Black Creek Outfitters.
Thursday May 8th Black Creek Outfitters is hosting a BBQ and happy hour with Jackson Kayaks Pro Staff Drew “BasserDrew” Gregory. Drew will be showing all of Jackson’s fishing kayaks including the new Jackson Big Rig fishing kayak which will be a first place prize at the Classic.
The 2014 Classic will also feature new kayak designs and products from the world’s leading kayak and accessory manufacturers as prizes and in charity raffles. The new kayak designs include Old Town’s Predator 13, Native Watercraft’s Slayer Propel 13, Malibu Kayak’s X-Caliber Fish & Dive, the NuCanoe Frontier 10, Ocean Kayak’s Big Game Prowler II, and the Wilderness Systems Ride 115X Angler.
