The excitement about the upcoming New York International Auto Show is so electric, it will probably cause a blackout in the Big Apple! Quite a number of automakers are gearing up for their long-awaited reveals, one of which was announced today, Hyundai's big daddy luxe sedan, the revised U.S. version of the 2014 Equus.
As far as spilling the beans about their hefty under wraps gem, inquiring minds will just have to wait until the New York show opens its doors on March 27. As far as what has been made public about the Equus is the fact that it will have 30 updates, count 'em, 30! The Korean automaker calls the vehicle's, a la Joan Rivers' facelifts, "enhancements."
The 2014 Equus which will reportedly shoot poisonous darts in the direction of such competitors as the Audi A8, Lexus LS460 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class will get improved interior and exterior design features, ride, handling and vehicle control dynamics; interior material quality; driver technology displays and advanced safety features. The sedan will also receive some additional safety and advanced convenience features such as a head-up display, haptic steering, upgraded smart cruise control, an all-around view monitor and blind-spot detection system.
As far as the Equus' powertrain is concerned, mum's the word so far.
The Equus has been a Hyundai family member since 2011. And what lies under its hood currently is an engine that cranks out 429-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, quite an improvement from the 2011's 385-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 and six-speed automatic.
Don't know what the sticker price will be for Hyundai's big Kahuna but if this info serves as any consolation to you, the current model year base starts out at $59,250.
